Kinderdijk ,Holland 11th August 08
This visually summed up what I thought Holland would have been like . These mills were built in 1738 and there are 19 of them all together along this one canal .The average wingspan of the mill is about 28 meters so they are quite large and as the sails sweep around you can hear the force of air that pushes them. We went right up in and saw how and what makes them work, quite interesting. Out the front of one they had some sand sculptors working, you can watch them for ages these are very talented people . This was another nice afternoon out and the boys thought the little ferry crossing was pretty cool.
We set a challange ,to find a pair of clogs that would fit Gwynfors size 15 feet, these almost did, not very comfortable lol!
